Unique Cat Breeds You've Probably Never Heard Of

Different isn’t always a bad thing! In fact, it can be a good thing.

Every cat is different in some way, but these cats are unlike anything you’ve ever seen! Unless you spend most of your free time researching cat breeds, of course.

  1. Sphynx

Yeah, we’ve all heard of the Sphynx and their unusual lack of fur, but they needed a spot on my list.

  1. American Curl

There’s no other cat like this one! The unique thing about this cat is that their ears curl backward, hence the name.

  1. Cornish Rex

The Cornish Rex has a short curly coat of fur that almost feels like velvet when you pet them!

  1. Devon Rex

Just like the Cornish, this breed has a short and curly coat, but that’s not the only thing that makes them unique: their face shape and features. If you’ve ever seen a Devon Rex, I’m sure you noticed their small almost heart-shaped head and large ears and eyes. Some say the breed resembles an imp or an alien!

  1. LaPerm

I think you can tell by their name that this is another curly kitty. LaPerms have a thicker coat than the Cornish and Devon, and their curls are tighter and more defined, whereas the others’ coat has more of a wave to it.

  1. Munchkin

Okay, this adorable munchkin deserves a place on this list! Their unusual characteristic is their short legs.

  1. Peterbald

The Peterbald is quite similar to the Sphynx. The main difference between the two is that some Peterbalds actually have fur. Some have a short coat, some have fuzz, and some are completely bald.

  1. Scottish Fold

This breed is almost the opposite of the American Curl; their ears fold forward.

  1. Selkirk Rex

Yet another curly cat! Mustn’t be that unusual then, huh? This breed’s curls are even thicker and tighter than the LaPerm’s.

  1. Loyki

I think this one takes the cake for the most unusual. They have fine hair that doesn’t seem to grow on their face and sometimes their underside, almost resembling a monkey. People call this cat “wolf cat” or “werewolf cat”.

I hope that y’all take the time to Google pictures of some of these unique cat breeds!
