National Cat Day was created by an animal behaviorist, named Colleen Paige. She also created other holidays, including National Dog Day, National Puppy Day, National Pet Day, and many others.

In America, it is celebrated today, October the 29th. In Canada it's celebrated on August 8th. This holiday was first celebrated in 2005.

National Cat Day was created to remind us of all of the cats in animal shelters who are in need of rescuing every year.

To honor this holiday, some will adopt a cat from an animal shelter, or donate to help our feline friends find their FURever home. Thank you for reading!
